    In 1957 the largest European children's goods department store was opened in the very heart of Moscow. The store was registered under the trademark Detsky Mir, or Children’s World. By the end of the Soviet era, in 1991, the store had become an iconic location for both children and adults alike from all over Russia.

    In 1996 JSFC Sistema acquired 75% of JSC Detsky Mir (the company that owned and managed the department store) from the Moscow government. A year later, Sistema established OJSC Detsky Mir Group, assuming 100% ownership.

    In 2001 OJSC Detsky Mir Group acquired 50% of shares in the company that owned and managed the department store in the city of Orel (in the Central region of Russia).

    In 2002 OJSC Detsky Mir Group acquired a retail store in the city of Tambov in central Russia, and a further department store in Moscow located on Bolshaya Yakimanka street.

    In 2003 JSFC Sistema assigned OJSC Detsky Mir Group as a management company for Sistema's retail business, and opened two leased stores in Moscow on Habarovskaya street in Golyanovo, and in the MEGA shopping mall near the Moscow Ring Road.

    In 2004 OJSC Detsky Mir Group launched a children’s retail network, and opened three new outlets in Moscow, as well as two new stores in St. Petersburg.

    In 2005 OJSC Detsky Mir Group launched 24 stores in the Russian cities of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Zelenograd, Korolev, Belgorod, Ivanovo, Kursk, Ryazan, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Tolyatti, Saratov, thus breaking into the central, northwestern, and Volga regions of Russia.

    In 2005 OJSC Detsky Mir Group acquired LLC C-Toys, a leading Russian importer and distributor of toys and children’s clothing, and the exclusive Russian distributor of such brands as Bratz, Brio, Famosa, Gund and others.

    In 2005 OJSC Detsky Mir Group acquired 100% of CJSC Chudo-Ostrov-Neva, the owner and management company for six retail stores in St. Petersburg.

    In 2006 OJSC Detsky Mir Group launched 30 new stores in the Russian cities of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Mytishchi, Khimki, Kotelniki, Podolsk, Tula, Voronezh, Vladimir, Kaliningrad, Nizhniy Novgorod, Naberezhnye Chelny, Samara, Perm, Penza, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Rostov on Don, Krasnodar, located across the central, northwestern, Volga, Ural, Siberian, and southern regions of Russia. In 2006 we closed one store in Moscow.

    In 2007, OJSC Detsky Mir Group had launched 32 stores in the Russian cities of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kotelniki, Lyubertsy, Yaroslavl, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Kostroma, Smolensk, Cherepovets, Petrozavodsk, Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Samara, Togliatti, Ufa, Ulyanovsk, Izhevsk, Nizhniy Taguil, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Barnaul, Rostov on Don, Stavropol, and Nalchik, across the central, northwestern, Volga, Ural, Siberian, and southern regions of Russia. In 2007 two stores were closed in St. Petersburg.

    In 2008 the 100th supermarket of national chain was opened (Magnitogorsk). The restoration of the oldest store of the chain Detsky Mir - enter (Moscow, Teatralniy proezd, 5) began. Yakimanka Children's Gallery - the 1st in Moscow and largest in Europe is the Luxury Trade House as a «Full Concept Shop» for children aged to 14 years old, was opened. The Еtalon of Quality is represented in the chain. The new retail concept is introduced.
